Friends & devotees,
You may observed the change in the Logo. We have smoothened the curves in the two S's in the V. We have also removed the word "MUMBAI" at the bottom of the logo.. This reason being that we have recently performed Chanting in Chennai, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad. Even in Mumbai, even though we initially said that we would not go beyond Antop Hill, we have just performed a Chanting at New Panvel. In October we have bookings in Colaba area and Thane area. Hence to make it more universal we have changed the logo to the one you are seeing now at the top of the page. Does the new logo appeal to you? Give your comments

Rendition of Vishnu Sahasranama is a simple and wholy activity in Kaliyug is the easiest way to see/experience God and have mental peace and harmony.
As said by DK, the Sabha's activities are growing multi-fold day-by-day while getting all round acceptance for the format and structure of the chanting. I also propose to introduce Veda pathanam also for 10-15 minutes in the package to get more positive vibrations and additional fervour and standards to the activity.

Sri vishnu sahasranamam is a hymn containing the sacred 1000 names of lord Vishnu. The great epic was written by sage vyasa who is none other than the lord vishnu as told in the line
"Vyasaya Vishnu roopaya, vyasa roopaya vishnave".These 1000 names have been uttered by lord Vishnuf himself, so that one could overcome his difficulties whatsoever it may be in life.

The Vishnu Sahasranama cleanses the mind and purifies it. A person can say it even if he does not grasp the meanings of the Sanskrit words. The Lord is the supreme deity of all beings in the universe and controls the planets and stars. Chanting the Vishnu Sahasranama removes the ill effects which are caused by various influences in a person’s life and delivers him from bondage due to karma.
If one is not able to recite the mantras due to inconvenience, then one can say this mantra which is equivalent to the Vishnu Sahasranama.
Sri Rama Rama Rameti, Rame Ramae Manorame Sahasranama Tathulyam Rama Nama Varananae.

Bhishma advised Yudhishtira that reciting mantras of God is the easiest way of propitiating Him. Of all the ways of worshipping the Lord, selfless service and hymnal praise are the best.

Any body can recite the mantra. The names of Lord MahaVishnu if chanted with devotion and self surrender will protect and guard a person.

dear all,
a small story on how God takes care of us:
Once, a man an God are walking together. Some time later, man found that only he is walking. he could see only one pair of legs are walking and the second pair is not visible. He got annoyed and felt that God left him in difficult times, where he has to pass thru a jungle, wild animals in a very rough atmosphere. He then started scolding the God why he (god) left him. Then, God replied, O man, I have not left u alone. I only am walking in the jungle and I made u sit on my shoulders so that I take u to the other part of the jungle and darkness where light is there. The paid of legs u are seeing is of mine only. I will be with u always to help u in difficult times. This is the God. Om Pandurangaayanamaha. regards, akella

Dear all,

I have seen in our own personal and professional life the positive changes after having started chanting Vishnusahasranamam since 2004. Lord Vishnu blessed and helped us to perform the 3rd Laksharchana in a grand manner and I am quite sure that he will bless us to conduct in future as well such Laksharchana in a grand scale.

I would like to share a an incident here. My sister was undergoing severe mental stress and agony and was not able to regain her confidence. I brought her to participate in the 3rd Laksharachana in the first batch itself. Having participated in the 3rd Laksharchana, believe me, she came home with her original smile in her face and told me that she is releived of all problems by the grace of Lord Vishnu and started chanting Vishnu Sahasranamam daily. Surrender to him completely and he will know how to solve your problems and help you to lead a peaceful life. I am indebted to everyone who helped us to form SVSS. Om Namo Narayana.

POEM COMPOSED ON THE OCCASION OF LAKSHACHANA ON 13/11/2010 AT KALPAK BHAJAN MANDALI, ANTOP HILL, MUMBAI

With the benevolence of Saraswathi Goddess and our Saraswathi, we have commenced NAMAVALI chanting in our Bhajan Mandali
Without Shakthi there is no Shiva, goes the adage. With the help of several Shakthis, bakthi is overflowing as river with KEERTHANAS and NAMAVALIS.
Bakthi songs and Sarana Ghosham are regular features every week. Sing along Bakthas take this to further altitude. Music lessons as Varaprasadam of Prasad flowing ever as congregation for unity.
Even to-day, it continues in this search for divinity.
It was a desire to take this small assembly of worship to participative public at large.
As Lord Muruga has got two wives, our Mandali has got two “Subramanyas”. With these two blessed “Subramanyas” and other like minded persons with astonishing VISWANATHAM, our LAKSHARCHANA was borne last year.
To-day with grand success, it continued this year also, with blissful fragrance of Sahasranamam.
This soul searching journey is a fitting example for our youngsters to follow and emulate.
With all humbleness, we pray the ALMIGHTY that this Bakthi pravaham should grow from strength to strength in the days and years to come.

Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam is a hymn containing the sacred 1000 names of Lord Vishnu. This is the extract of conversation that took place between Sri Bhishma, when he was in the bed of arrows after the war of Mahabharata, and Shri Yudhistra . The great epic of Mahabharatha was written by Sage Vyasa, who is none else than Lord Vishnu himself as said in the line

VYASAYA VISHNU ROOPAYA
VYASA ROOPAYA VISHNAVE

In shri Vishnu sahasranamam. Thu, these 1000 names have been uttered by Lord Vishnu himself, so that one could overcome his difficulties, whatsoever it may be in life. Needless to mention that absolute care should be taken in respect of pronounciation, metre etc. Each verse is divided into four parts called padam so that it can be recited in groups in unison.

The sanctity of Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam is inexplicable in as much as that one can make any atmosphere conducive and congenital to recite the same as no austerity is required for it. It can be simply recited anywhere and under any circumstances

The most important aspect that should be observed for the recitation of this great sloka is highlighted in these lines.

STHUVANNAMA SAHASRENA NITHYAM BHAKTI SAMANVITAHA

NA KRODHO NA CHA MATHSARYAM NA LOBHO NA SUBHAMATHIHI

Which means that these slokas should be offered whole heartedly with full concentration without getting disturbed perturbed or distracted even for a fraction of a second and without any feeling of ego ( the thought of I and mine) greed or anger. Our heart, which itself is lotus shaped is to be laid at the feet of lord narayana and we should surrender totally. Then, he would certainly rescue the devotees, which is expressed in the line ensuring non occurrence of anything inauspicious.

NA VASAUDEVA BHAKTHANAM ASUBHAM VIDYATE KWACHIT

There are specific lines particularly to fulfill each and every aspiration of the devotee in the matter of studies marriage children earning health and wealth etc.

Hence one can clasp the feet of Lord Narayana through Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam to tide over all hurdles of life. In other words sri Vishnu sahasranamam helps us perform our karma with absolutely no fear, favour or expectation and it is simplest media through which we can attain the ultimate goal of life.

Hari Ohm.
Raama naamam

Once a Guru or teacher was teaching Vishnu sahasra naamam to a group of boys aged between 8 and 12 years.
Guru chanted the slokam
Sri Raama Raama Raamethi Rame Raame Manorame
Sahasranaama Tathulyam Raama Naama Varaanane
and told the students
" if you chant Raama naamam three times, it is equivalent to chanting the whole Vishnu Sahasranaamam or chanting Lord's Naamam 1000 times. One of the boys was very naughty and always had questions about everything the teacher said. Immediately he asked " Guro, how can three times become equal to 1000 times, I do not get the logic. Please explain to us how that equation of 3 naamams =1000 naamams works".

Guru was not only smart, but was a great devotee of Lord Raama. In one moment, Guru knew how to explain the validity of the unusual equation. He said:

Lord Shiva says that the name of Lord Rama is the sweetest of all the words & chanting this name would be equivalent to chanting the whole Vishnu Sahasranama or thousand names of Vishnu .

Here is the interesting calculation by which we can prove that 3 times chanting of Rama naamam becomes equivalent to 1000 times chanting or chanting the whole Vishnu Sahasra naamam.

Take the name Rama. It has two letters RA and MA.

When you take the consonants in Sanskrit alphabet,

RA is the second consonant in the group of five consonants Ya, RA, La, Va, Sha and

MA is the fifth in the group of five consonants Pa, Pha, Ba, Bha, MA.

When you substitute the value of RA and MA as 2 and 5

RAMA is equivalent to 2x5= 10. Then,

Sri Rama Rama Rama (iti) is equivalent to 2x5 x 2x5 x2x5= 10x10x10= 1000.

The boy was happy with the answer and started learning Vishun Sahasranaamam with full concentration and devotion.

Jai Shri Ram!

The Power of Mantras

"Om Suklam Baradaram Vishnum Sasivarnam Chaturbhujam
Prasannavadanam Dyaye Sarva Vignopa Santaye"
According to Hindu mythology, any person who starts any work in any day will recite the above mantra. The above mantra is to please Lord Vigneswara, the first God to receive the prayers, to bestow His blessing on him in the work to be completed without any obstacles. Without performing puja by reciting the above mantra to the Lord, no one starts any venture and to that effect any work.

Mantras are more powerful tools to the common persons in this Yuga to fulfill their desires and ward of negative effects. Historically, power of mantras have been tested time and again. Mantras are nothing but a combination of combination of words. If mantras uttered rhythmically and repeatedly, the mantras create a vibration that lead to an ultimate well being of a person. The whole existence of the world is nothing but a vibration of energy. Where there is a vibration, there is bound to be sound. The whole existence is nothing but sound. Mantras also contain sound and it becomes the source of enormous vibrations and infinite power. Mantras also contain sound, the sound of God. Mantras were revealed to our sages for the benefit of the mankind by God himself.

Almost all Vedic Mantras start with the basic mantra 'OM' that is the expressive sound symbol of God. These mantras are very powerful and when uttered repeatedly with utmost faith, devotion and dedication, they become the source of the infinite power.

According to Gita, there are three ways to realize God viz., Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga. In the present Kali Yuga, Bhakti yoga has been stated to give immediate results.

If mantras are chanted mechanically, it is of no use except waste of time. Total devotion and surrender to the deity to whom the mantra is supposed to propriate is a must. Your faith in the Lord has to be total. Then only, you will be able to reach the goal and be benefited by the blessings of God.
Mantras are more powerful if uttered with utmost devotion, dedication and in totality. In fact, a common man, a manta is an occult formula to remove various worries and troubles. It is a tool to get one's desire fulfilled through positive vibrations.
